The Seoul Lantern Festival, now in its 16th year since beginning in 2009, is Seoul’s signature nighttime light festival. This winter, it returns to Cheonggye Plaza and the Cheonggyecheon area under the theme "Play with the Light of Seoul.“
Enjoy a unique holiday season at the Seoul Lantern Festival, featuring over 200 diverse light installations and interactive experiences.

About the Festival’s Brand Identity (BI)-
The new brand identity of the Seoul Lantern Festival is a symbol that reflects the cultural appeal of Seoul, where tradition and modernity coexist.
This BI captures the symbolic essence of the Seoul Lantern Festival, held along Cheonggyecheon, with a design that reinterprets the traditional Korean lantern shape in a modern style.

- Meaning of the Symbol

Inspired by the form of traditional Korean lanterns, the BI symbol centers on the essential element of "light.“
The central light graphic represents the role of the lantern in illuminating the darkness.
In addition, the Korean traditional "chorong (lantern)” is designed in a simplified silhouette to bring a contemporary touch. The loop at the top of the symbol accentuates the unique shape of the lantern, helping viewers instantly recognize it as a chorong.
By harmoniously combining the traditional chorong with a modern representation of light, the symbol visually embodies the Seoul Lantern Festival's vision of blending tradition with modernity.
